Pranayama and Meditation

We will explore pranayama exercises --breathing practices, and a full array of yogic meditation practices. The breathing practices we will focus upon are: ujjayi, bhastrika, alternate nostril breathing, and yogic breathing for meditation practice. This will be an experiential workshop and you will be carefully led in each of the pranayama exercises. The three main bhandas of yoga will also be looked into. After exploring pranayama, we will proceed onto the topic of meditation, with the focus being upon yogic concentration -- contemplation exercises. The groundwork will be carefully laid in yogic meditation and we will see how it is embedded in the eightfold path of yoga. The differences and value of other types of meditation practice will be interlaced into the presentation. This will be a completely experiential workshop and all are welcome, whatever your level of understanding concerning meditation practice.
